How Does Spray Tanning Work? The active ingredients in spray tan solution are DHA (dihydroxyacetone) and Erythrulose. When sprayed on the skin, DHA reacts with the proteins in the skin’s superficial layer to form a golden-brown color. Your skin begins to darken 2-3 hours after application and reaches its peak color within 24 hours. The color will gradually fade through natural exfoliation, just like a tan from the sun. Erythrulose is similar to DHA as an active ingredient because it also produces color on the skin and is a naturally based sugar found in red raspberries. It works in combination with DHA to produce a tan that lasts longer, fades more evenly, and provides natural looking color for all skin types. Erythrulose continues to develop over 48 hours which extends the tan and creates the natural fade.

What Do I Need to Prepare for My Session? The Day Before: Exfoliate and Shave the day before or the day of the spray tan session (day before is preferred). This will form fresh skin cells prolonging the life of your tan. Pay special attention to rough areas like feet, heels, ankles, elbows, and knees. Take care of all manicures, pedicures, waxing, or facials. When it comes to shaving before your spray tan, ideally you should shave at least 24 hours before your tan. The soonest you should shave before your tan is four hours, and make sure to end your shower with a nice cold rinse to close up your pores. The Day Of: Refrain from oils, moisturizers, perfumes, lotions, deodorants or make up that may create a barrier between the skin and tanning solution. Be careful of gels or shaving cream that could have residue left on the skin after use. If you need to shower before- try to fit it in 3 hours before to make sure your pores have time to close from the steam. Skin should be clean, exfoliated, and dry for your appointment.
-
What Should I Wear? After your spray tan, you should wear dark, loose cotton clothes that will cover your fresh tan to protect it and not rub to avoid rub off. Outfits such as a dark cotton maxi dress, loose yoga pants, and a t-shirt or jammie pants, and a soft long-sleeved t-shirt. Application can be done with or without undergarments or a bathing suit. We will not be in the room so get comfortable.
-
How Long Do I Wait to Shower? It is recommended that you wait at least 8 hours after a spray tan before showering to allow the color to fully develop. The exception is if you use our Rapid Tan option that allows you to shower in as little as 3 hours.
-
Can I Shave if I Have a Spray Tan?Wait at least 8 hours after your spray tan to shave for the first time. Use an oil-free moisturizing body wash when shaving, not traditional shaving cream. Most shaving creams on the market contain alcohol and heavy detergents that can strip your tan.

How Many Days Before my Wedding (or an Event) Should I Get a Spray Tan?We recommend getting your spray tan 2 - 3 days before the big day. It's definitely best to avoid the wedding-eve as the tan will continue to develop for 24-48 hours, so will need some time for the full result to appear.
-
Is it Better to get a Spray Tan at Night or in the Morning? And while you might want to shower before bed, the key to a perfect spray tan is to wait until the morning so the color has a full 12 hours to develop. We recommend sleeping in a long-sleeve shirt or a hoodie, which won't create a crease around your neck.
-
Will the Spray Tan Rub Off on Clothes? There is a good chance that the bronzer will come off on your clothes and/or bed sheets before you take your first shower after the air brush spray tan is applied. It will come out in the wash as long as you do not wait and extremely long amount of time to wash the items.
-
Should I Get My Nails Done Before or After a Spray Tan?It is better if you have nail polish on before your tan, even if it is just a clear coat. Your nails and toenails will be wiped down at the end of your spray tan, and it prevents your nails from staining.
-
Does My Face Get Sprayed?Yes, your face is sprayed in the booth. If you don't want your face tanned we can place a net over your face to protect it. If you're having a total TLC day, choose whether you want to have a facial or a spray tan—just don't have both. Facials should be avoided right before a spray tan because the tanner will go into the open pores on the skin and create blackhead-looking spots on the skin
-
How Do You Shower After a Spray Tan?Don't Shower for 8-10 Hours. This rule applies to getting a regular solution spray tan First Shower = Warm Water Rinse. Use Paraben-Free & Sulfate-Free Products. Always Pat, Never Rub.

Items that go over your head but have now ripped off part of your tan – taboo! Tan will rub off on the seam line of your jeans and make that white or darker!
